COVID-19 Quarantine Talk - Day 19

The new normal in Los Angeles is social distancing and staying at home.  Hasn't it always been like this?  Don't we all live behind our gates? Orthodox Jews with Orthodox Jews, Palisades with Palisades, film biz with film biz, married women with married women, AA's with AA's, gays with gays, homeless with homeless. It's gotten more defined over the years until now here we are. 2020 What a year!

An interesting analogy is gauging visits to the market: Erewhon Market hasn't changed much either, I liken it to the underground club Performance at the Variety Arts Center, DTLA in the early nineties, a favorite haunt. Now it's micro-dosing privileged wo/man dreamers posing for each other in leisure suits, hoping for a break in the biz.  Because, darling we are all about to break and on a break from biz.

I don't own a mask yet.  It's on the way from American Mask Project in DTLA until then, I have a scarf which makes me feel like a poor imitation of a bandit, and honestly not quite protected.

What I am Eating

I've been doing this intermittent fasting protocol of 16 hours no food and 8 hours of feeding time.  It works out to no eating after 7pm until 11am next day.  I eat from 11am until 7pm and not as much as I used to until this: home all the time. The kitchen is the heart of every home and restaurant.  The intermittent fasting helps tremendously with gut issues like bloating and digestive slumps. And, during the fasting hours healthy cells eat unhealthy cells.  It's keeps me healthy. And, I've reignited the daily vitamins THORNE B12 and D3.

I'm suggesting to friends and family to prepare one pot/skillet meals that can last up to 2 days, depending on household size.  I'm making vegetarian chili which will last
2 days and I'll freeze 2 portions for later if/when the virus peaks here in LA and I can't get to the market.

I've done this with Tuscan Kale and Fava Beans soup and keeping a portion of starter broth in the freezer, as well. Ball Mason jars are super handy to store soups and sauces in the fridge or freezer.  (If you're not sure it's freezer safe, drop the jar in a freezer bag and store that way, its' an added layer of protection).

The pantry is stocked well like other friends and neighbors are stocking toilet paper.

Speaking of friends and neighbors, Twink offered some of her Meyer lemons from her glorious tree and when I swung by to pick them up there was a roll of toilet paper in a separate bag:  now that's single sisterhood!  Grazie, Twink!

No, I haven't watched the tiger movie yet. I am watching:

Unorthodox on Netflix

What I am Reading

I heard Meggan Watterson on The goop Podcast where Elise Loehnen and Meggan Watterson,  "Examine the roots of femininity and how women throughout history have always grappled with their sense of self-worth.  They talk about love, why we're worthy of it, and our responsibility to express it."

Happy 8th Birthday to my nephews Dominic and Benjamin!  You are loved. ❤️

Stay Healthy My Lovely Friends and Neighbors!

à votre santé,
