Tranquillo lunch in Monteverde Vecchio {il Cortile}

I took a stroll around the corner from Casa Marrese for a relaxing lunch at an old favorite haunt of mine, Ristorante il Cortile.

Today, the carabienere were on horse back, there's a funeral.

I don't believe we have these in the U.S.

It's a Mercedes hearse.

I arrive to il CortileI love it here because this place knows how to do it up with veggies - check-out the antipasti buffet:

Two styles of carciofi:

Nuda &

covered with fresh Reggiano parmesano

Here's my plate - perfect lunch!

The Roman children are so lovely, she kept coming to the door awaiting the arrival of a friend.

il Cortile has a dessert "senza glutine", a torte made with almond flour, butter and sugar called Torta Caprese:

I'm happy to report, it tastes as good as it looks.  If one eats half, one only scores half the calories!  The rest is for Vesta.

Grande bacio.
